Buck's Landing Review and Giveaway

by | |
Cameron D Garriepy, New England, romance, novel, Hampton Beach

I tried to write a review of Buck's Landing from a purely journalistic style. But you all know, that's not me. So then I tried to pretend I didn't know the author personally because you might think my rave review is clouded by friendship. But honestly, if I didn't love the book, I wouldn't have reviewed it at all.

Then I realized in order to impress upon you how Buck's Landing stuck with me, I needed to take you to Blink's Fried Doe.

I was one of the lucky few who read Buck's Landing before it was published. Now we all know I'm an avid romance book reader. I love happy endings, dashing heroes, and plucky heroines with an unparalleled devotion.

Buck's Landing has all of those elements, but what makes this novel a page turner is author Cameron D. Garriepy's haunting writing. It weaves and tugs until you find yourself remembering to put salt in your pasta water until, like Sofia Bucks says, "It's as salty as the sea." Your mouth waters for Blink's Fried Doe, though you have no idea what it is. Your skin cools in the wind as you sit with Sofia, mourn with her, and hope she finds peace. Your heart races as Silas enters the picture. Your mouth quirks as Houdini plods his way down the steps on quick, kitten feet.

Every word entrances. Every image entices. Until you realize you need to visit Hampton Beach, to see where Silas and Sofia start their summer romance, to eat the fried dough.

Just before I boarded my flight to Boston, Cam sent me Buck's Landing. I devoured it between Los Angeles and Detroit. And, when I landed, I knew I had to see this magical place.

So I did. With Cam. There is nothing more amazing than strolling down the street and seeing a scene come to life.

Buck's Landing is a story of a woman who in trying to escape her past is pulled irrevocably towards it. It's a story of a man who walked away from it all and discovered joy in a simpler life. It's a story of hope, forgiveness, love, and passion.

And she's giving one lucky reader a Kindle edition.

Thank you for the wonderful review! It was such fun, taking you to the scene of the crime. So to speak. ;) Pretty sure the only crime was how much we ate in three days.

And good luck to everyone who enters!

I choose Noah, the male character in The Notebook. Not because of Ryan Gosling, but for the way the character loved and cared for his wife
I love most romance novels!
What is fried doe? Surely not a young female deer?
Of course I've had a summer romance....then I married him.
